amazing, wonderful...

maiya did one of the most amazing, wonderful and self-less things today after we shopped at the dimond mall center (anchorage)...

we were at a stop light and in front of us was another vehicle. on the sidewalk was an old homeless man with a cane.  it was freezing cold and icy out.  he approached the car in front of us and they gave him some money.

maiya said, " i want to give him some $." she rolled down the window and said to the man, "here sir." he walked slowly with a limp towards us and she handed him the money. although there was a jerk behind who honked at us as the man said thank you, i was so touched.  and by the way, maiya yelled at the car behind us, "hey! i'm giving him some money!!!!"  the homeless man smiled at maiya.

i told her i was proud of her and that she did a real good thing. i asked her, "you know you gave him a $10 bill, right?"  she said, "actually i gave him $14."

she was so proud of herself with a bit of a tear in the corner of her eye.  i raised a great, good child.  and i'm grateful and learned from her today.

love her so much.

quickie but goodie layout

doing a quick post of another wedding scrap layout i did this past saturday early morning....
this one is of our 2 daughters, maiya & ashley.
the photo was taken on 10/24/2009.
so they pretty much look real different now.

anyway...

sharing is caring...

i used a coaster from somewhere i can't remember where from to use as a template for the circles.
then drew a couple of freeform circles in a couple of those circles.
dotted around a couple of circles too.
used some silver ink from stampcraft and clear stamps from7gypsies on top of my circles.
used the clear arrows in that set too.
i cut up the patterned papers by basic grey & colorbok using my cutter and my scissors on opposite sides of them
i kinda like that not so straight edge look.
i'll be using that technique again.
then the scraps from those, i adhered them above my photos.
can't waste anything right?
a few punched shapes here and there, stickles glitter glue, doodled border, and very little journaling finished it up.
i had fun doing this one because of all of the freeform stuff.
that's why i love scrapbooking...anything goes!

continuing my photo-a-day, project life, and life in general.

what's a bummer is my external drive went caput the other day and i freaked out a bit.
beeping sound and flickering light and not responding onto my laptop or any computer in the house.
but i know it'll get resolved.
it will.
it betta.

got some hair dye, black, for the both of us from target....

then lunch at panera bread...

went to the mall but didn't find anything that appealed to us...

but we did drop by the MAC counter to browse...

lol...

and today at 9:35 in the morning...

she loves her oinky...

it's rare she stays still for a photo shot...gotcha!

pretty much stayed home today...

a lazy sunday....

but i did manage to start on my Project Life which i'll share on a later post.

also did some photo uploading, blog surfing, practicing up on some photoshop.

hubby is dirt bike riding with the "big boys" as i type this.

he deserves to have lots of fun too!

i'm kinda happy today is a lazy day.

i was gonna run.

but i don't feel like it plus hubby is still out.

oh well.

lazy lazy.

oh sheez, i still have to pick some hamburger buns or maybe just make something else.

i'll figure it out.

maybe tomorrow or so i'll share my photo-a-day.

most of these were taken on my canon eos rebel xsi and the rest on my iphone.
i love both.
on occasion, i'll use my point and shoot, fujifilm finepix z, which is always in my purse when i don't feel like lugging the canon along.
i love this one too.
trying to use the canon for most of the month tho.

this past week has been:

cleaning house
doing lots of loads of laundry
organizing photos (i'm done with 2011 and january 2012, moving forward)
organizing memorabilia by year & month and placing them in expandable files by year
running, walking, zumba, working out
blog surfing/stalking

it's been a good week even with lil spurts of small nilly bad stuff (not worth talking about at this moment).
today is getting the baby bouncer sold, get a run in, laundry (yuck!), maybe start Project Life, dropping off maiya at the airport tonight.
maiya will be in wa with her dad for the martin luther king holiday weekend.
